Deborah Ann Gibson, credited as Debbie Gibson (born August 31, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York), is an American singer who was initially a teen idol appearing repeatedly on the cover of such teen magazines as Tiger Beat. In contrast to the prevalence of the name Debbie in her teen-idol phase, she showed a preference for "Deborah" even then, and her fans had, before the release of Naked, signalled a departure from that image by using this name to refer to her. When Gibson turned 16, she was signed to a recording contract by Atlantic Records, and soon she became the youngest person ever to write, record and produce a Number 1 hit, with her single Foolish Beat. Three other singles from her debut LP Out Of The Bluealso cracked the top 5 Billboard Top 100: Only In My Dreams, Out Of The Blue, and Shake Your Love. By the time Out Of The Bluewas established as a hit album, she and Tiffany, with her remake of I Think We're Alone Now, were fighting for the top position as teen queen of the United States.

So Close To Forever Lyrics

Debbie Gibson

SO CLOSE TO FOREVER
performed by: Debbie Gibson
written by: Deborah Gibson

Verse 1:
Jealousies
Misconceptions
Opinions
Outside advice
Fears of getting hurt again
Doubt in your eyes
Why do we listen?
Why do we care?
We almost made it there
Chorus:
We came so close to forever
Now what's done is done
There'll be no resurrection
How can life break its promises
I even made this promise to myself
So close but never there again
Verse 2:
Once a king
Now a prince
One step lower
On the list
It's not plain and simple innocence
'Cause we've been through more now
And it's left its scars somehow
CHORUS
Oh, oh, oh now what's done is done
hmmm...
It's close so close but never there again
oh, oh, oh
