Deborah Ann Gibson, credited as Debbie Gibson (born August 31, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York), is an American singer who was initially a teen idol appearing repeatedly on the cover of such teen magazines as Tiger Beat. In contrast to the prevalence of the name Debbie in her teen-idol phase, she showed a preference for "Deborah" even then, and her fans had, before the release of Naked, signalled a departure from that image by using this name to refer to her. When Gibson turned 16, she was signed to a recording contract by Atlantic Records, and soon she became the youngest person ever to write, record and produce a Number 1 hit, with her single Foolish Beat. Three other singles from her debut LP Out Of The Bluealso cracked the top 5 Billboard Top 100: Only In My Dreams, Out Of The Blue, and Shake Your Love. By the time Out Of The Bluewas established as a hit album, she and Tiffany, with her remake of I Think We're Alone Now, were fighting for the top position as teen queen of the United States.

Goodbye Lyrics

Debbie Gibson

Verse1:
Darlin, I was hoping that we could pretend
And make believe that we could still live happily
And start again
Seems like you and i, weve caught up in your world of lies
I kept believing you could start anew
And be a friend
Well Ive got something I wanted to tell you
And its the last thing I wanted to say
But I think I must go there anyway...
Chorus:
Goodbye
How do you say goodbye?
Do I just look you in the eye,
Shake your hand, wish you well
After all this time...
I never wanted for goodbye
Verse2:
Dont let go
I was devoted to your heart and soul
And then we took a turn
And I had to learn
What I tried not to know
Seems like yesterday
Id give the world just to hear you say
A simple whisper of a word or two
Like I love you
Breaks my heart to see it end this way
Chorus
Bridge:
Goodbye
Can it ever be the same?
Goodbye
Did we lose more than we gained?
Theres nowhere to hide
Baby I feel it inside
As my heart cries out your name
Goodbye...
