Deborah Ann Gibson, credited as Debbie Gibson (born August 31, 1970 in Brooklyn, New York), is an American singer who was initially a teen idol appearing repeatedly on the cover of such teen magazines as Tiger Beat. In contrast to the prevalence of the name Debbie in her teen-idol phase, she showed a preference for "Deborah" even then, and her fans had, before the release of Naked, signalled a departure from that image by using this name to refer to her. When Gibson turned 16, she was signed to a recording contract by Atlantic Records, and soon she became the youngest person ever to write, record and produce a Number 1 hit, with her single Foolish Beat. Three other singles from her debut LP Out Of The Bluealso cracked the top 5 Billboard Top 100: Only In My Dreams, Out Of The Blue, and Shake Your Love. By the time Out Of The Bluewas established as a hit album, she and Tiffany, with her remake of I Think We're Alone Now, were fighting for the top position as teen queen of the United States.

Free Me Lyrics

Debbie Gibson

Verse1:
Got a groove in my head and a feeling of chains
Releasing me from this bed of nails
Got a smile up my sleeve and wind under my feet
With the air I can set sail
You can only push me just so far
Ive been a fool for too long
I know the words to this song
You might tear us apart
But Ill still have my heart
Chorus:
You might like to think youre strong
You cant break me, you can only free me
Think Im stuck like glue? youre wrong
You cant break me, you can only free this heart
Verse2:
Theres a whole world of life with a promise of love
Thats waiting outside of these four walls
And you cant walk away though you feel your heart break
Suddenly freedom calls
Ive been searching for something Ive yet to see
Ive been thirsting for what you cant be
Now I need to be free
Chorus
Verse3:
You can only push me just so far
Ive been a fool for too long
I know the words to this song
You might tear us apart
But Ill still have my heart
Dance your buns off...
